As seen on Craigslist. Weird I didn’t know they made bikes. Just noticed they make Atm’s the other day and when I checked wiki it listed all kinds of stuff including “high end apartments”. Kinda neat.

fun fact: this motor is based off the SV650 (and pending on who you ask, the other way around)

I forgot Hyosung existed until today.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the road, but they just seem like extremely budget oriented bikes that aren’t guaranteed to not explode in your face.

As if riding wasn’t dangerous enough. Kinda like grand tours brand new but sub $1k bike they used on the recent Africa episode.

A friend of mine had a Harley stile one with a 250 V twin for his first bike. He fixed it up a bit and traded for a beat up an 80s Suzuki 650. He said it wasn’t bad and parts went shard to find, although everything required 5 day shipping at least.

I have a neighbor that has one of their 250cc sport bikes. They’re decent enough quality. Comparable to what you saw on like the old Buell blast entry bikes. They’re Korean so decently engineered and manufactured, I wouldn’t kick one out of my garage.

Yeah, the one Hammond had. I’m honestly surprised how durable that thing was.

Agreed. He trashed it! Like 50 drops half of those into 2 foot of water!

But for the general challenge, a motorcycle was a teeeeeerible idea.

The whole thing was kinda bad. I wished they would have done a better job and had some success. Would have been cool if they actually fed some people.

I bought my Honda CM450 from a Hyosung dealer back in college, he tried to sell me on one of their 250 cruisers new, for ca. $2,000 more than the used Honda, which obviously wasn’t what I was looking for.

As I recall, they used license built Suzuki engines. Think they’re called something else now after a corporate takeover/reorganization.

I have a 2010 Hyosung GT250R. I bought it brand new for $4000 CAD on a whim. Was a great bike to learn on. Only issue it every had was a headlight wire came loose and caused a fuse popping short. I still got it home that night and was only a new crimp and 1" of heat shrink to fix. I changed the brake pads twice, the rear rotor once, adjusted the chain 2-3 times, changed the battery after forgetting about it over the winter, and changed the oil once per season. About as cheap as it comes for a bike. Insurance was cheap at the 250cc mark.

Probably going to put it up for sale this summer. Spent the last few years ripping around on my Husqvarna Enduro bike. More my style. Was many thousands of dollars more. So far very reliable as well.

My brother owned a Hyosung for a while (not this exact model), and he really liked it. He found it to be a really efficient and adequately powerful commuter bike, with decent ergonomics, and it never let him down.
